Dhanalakshmi Hospital School of Nursing started to function from January 2002 with an intake of 20 students in the first batch for the General Nursing and Midwifery course of three years duration which has now become three and a half years diploma course. The School Of Nursing got the recognition of the Kerala Nursing Council in 2001 and Indian Nursing council in 2006. At present the intake is 40 students per year.
Four batches of students have successfully completed their nursing studies. All the four batches secured 100% pass with a large majority of them obtaining first classes and distinctions. The faculty consists of well qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers and a healthy teacher student ratio is maintained which has reflected on the excellent results that we have been obtaining year after year.
The school of nursing is located in the annex building adjacent to the main hospital building. It has spacious and well ventilated class rooms and well equipped labs and medical library. The school has its own auditorium which can accommodate 450 people and all the functions and seminars of the school takes place here. The auditorium is also used as one of the examination centres of this region. The separate Students hostel is at a walk able distance from the hospital. The School of Nursing has its own transport.
All the students besides their regular curriculum are also given ‘Spoken English’ lessons to help them with their communicative skills. They are also given training in computer applications. and exposed to indoor outdoor sports and cultural activities
The students who pass out of Dhanalakshmi Hospital School of Nursing are given BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) both internationally certified courses which will be of great help for them in their future career. Selected outstanding nurses who qualify from this institution are given training in specialty departments like ICU, ICCU, NICU, Dialysis and operation theaters.
